A 2023 Custodial Death at Tarrant County Jail Continued
Once George William Zink arrived in the medical unit in a wheelchair, medical personnel immediately requested a MedStar Ambulance so that Mr. Zink could be transported to John Peter Smith Hospital as quickly as possible. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, medical staff began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mr. Zink. The Fort Worth Fire Department arrived on the scene, and they continued chest compressions using the Lucas machine. After their arrival, paramedics with the MedStar ambulance immediately transported Mr. Zink to the hospital. Dr. H. Campbell pronounced Mr. Zink deceased at 9:18 PM on February 15, 2023. His cause of death is unknown and autopsy results are still pending.
In March 2023, An Inmate Dies After 5 Days at Tarrant County Jail
A 36-year-old man entered Tarrant County Jail on March 18, 2023, and he exhibited no health problems during intake. Tragically, the man died in the jail’s custody on March 23, 2023, just five days later. The cause of death is pending autopsy results, per the custodial death report (CDR), but the medical cause of death is shown on the report as “cardiac arrest.” The decedent had not been receiving medical treatment for the medical condition that caused this death after admission to the jail’s jurisdiction.
