Summary of How the Death of Brandon Alexander Dominguez Occurred
The custodial death report (CDR) about Brandon Alexander Dominguez that was filed by the Denton County Sheriff’s Office says nothing about the health care he may have received for the treatment of diabetes. However, the description of what happened the day before his death is replete with details.
At an unspecified time on August 17, 2021, Mr. Dominquez experienced medical distress and became unresponsive. Medical personnel with the Denton County Health Department came to the scene. Lifesaving measures were continued by the Denton Fire Department EMS after Mr. Dominguez appeared to go into cardiac arrest. An ambulance transported him to Medical City Denton, a hospital facility. There, a pulse was detected, and lifesaving efforts continued. Medical personnel ran tests on Mr. Dominguez, and he tested positive for Covid-19 and was also diagnosed with possible diabetic ketoacidosis. Subsequently, he was placed on life support.
The family of Mr. Dominguez was notified about his medical condition. As a result of a $2,500 personal recognizance bond that was ordered by a local judge, Mr. Dominguez was released from the custody of Denton County Jail at 12:55 PM on August 17. The following day, lifesaving measures were terminated at the request of family members, and Mr. Dominguez died at 7:53 PM on August 18, 2021.
