32-Year-Old Jewelli Carrillo Dies at Pueblo County Jail in CO

Jewelli Carrillo, 32, was an inmate at Pueblo County Jail aka Pueblo County Detention Center when she was discovered unresponsive in her cell on the afternoon of June 24, 2025. Lifesaving measures began and continued as Ms. Carrillo had a weak heartbeat and was quickly transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Unfortunately, all efforts to revive her failed. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Ms. Carrillo was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation found that there were no signs of foul play. Ms. Carrillo’s death came a little more than 24 hours after her arrival at Pueblo County Detention Center. The coroner announced on June 26 that an autopsy has been scheduled, and Ms. Carrillo’s next of kin had been notified.

Buncombe County Detention Facility, Asheville, NC
Fifty-seven-year-old Geneva Daniels went through the intake process at Buncombe County Detention Facility on April 18, 2025. Tragically, she died the next day. Details provided by the jail reveal that Ms. Daniels was placed in a cell with another female inmate at 1:53 a.m. on April 19. During the 6 a.m. headcount, Ms. Daniels was discovered unresponsive on the lower cot. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was started, and paramedics continued lifesaving measures as she was transported to a local emergency room, where she was pronounced deceased.

Calhoun County Jail, Battle Creek, MI
A 43-year-old man was booked into Calhoun County Jail in the early morning hours of March 30, 2025. The Battle Creek Police Department brought him to the jail at about 1:30 a.m., and he was placed in an observation holding area so that he would be routinely monitored. At around 5:30 a.m., deputies discovered the inmate unresponsive. Emergency lifesaving measures began, but they were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased at 5:52 a.m., within a few hours after his arrival. Pending the notification of next of kin, the identity of the decedent has not been released.
This tragic death is being investigated by the Michigan State Police. The cause of death is unknown and awaiting results of an autopsy.

Bexar County Jail, San Antonio, TX
Marcus Fontenette, 46, completed intake at San Antonio’s Bexar County Jail at 8:24 p.m. on November 12, 2024. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased in the jail 5 hours later. Mr. Fontenette’s death has been ruled an accident.
