6th Known Feb. 2022 Custodial Death Occurs in a TX County Jail-Pt3
A custodial death report prepared by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office shows that Daniel Ray Monroy died while in the custody of the Grayson County Jail in Sherman, Texas. It shows that the decedent caused his own death using a mattress cover. Mr. Monroy hanged himself and died on February 10, 2022, at age 29.
February 2022 Texas County Jail Custodial Deaths Continued
Kevin Alexander Sanchez-Trejo
On February 12, Kevin Alexander Sanchez-Trejo died in the custody of the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas. A sergeant at the jail discovered that Mr. Sanchez-Trejo was unresponsive in his single-occupancy cell. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and Houston Fire Department personnel soon arrived and determined that there were no signs of life. Mr. Sanchez-Trejo was only 21 years old when he died of unknown causes. Autopsy results are pending.
David Lee Tumey
On February 13, David Lee Tumey was in the custody of Medina County Jail in Hondo, Texas, when he died of unknown causes at the age of 54. On the day of his death, a sergeant at the jail found that Mr. Tumey was unresponsive in his cell. Life-saving measures were taken; however, he never resuscitated. Mr. Tumey had been booked into the jail just three days earlier.
