A 26-Yr-Old Man Dies After 13 Days in Amarillo’s Potter County Jail Texas
The Potter County Sheriff’s Department filed a custodial death report on Larry Darrell Douglas on March 11, 2022. Tragically, Mr. Douglas died at the age of 26 on March 10, 2022. His death came 13 days after he was booked into the facility at 13100 NE 29th in Amarillo, Texas, 79111.

David Quannah Brown Dies at Potter County Jail on 6/6/21
At 10:00 PM on June 5, 2021, David Quannah Brown was booked into Potter County Jail in Amarillo, Texas. Less than 7 hours later, Mr. Brown was pronounced dead. According to the custodial death report (CDR) filed by the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, the manner of death was alcohol/drug intoxication. The medical cause of death was acute methamphetamine intoxication. The CDR for Mr. Brown also shows that he appeared to be intoxicated and he exhibited medical problems.
The summary of Mr. Brown’s death details a series of events that occurred during the booking process. A glass pipe with residue was found in one of the pockets of his pants. He was escorted to the male shower and decontaminated because officers with the Amarillo Police Department reportedly pepper-sprayed Mr. Brown during the arrest. During the decontamination, Mr. Brown actively resisted the medical officer.
