An Inmate Speaks Up About Medical Neglect Continued
Despite the things mentioned in the last installment of this series, the medical staff informed the inmate outside Texas that he could not have the medication prescribed. After about four days of being denied the prescription medication, the inmate began projectile vomiting, had blood in his stool, and suffered stomach pain that was almost unbearable. He could neither eat nor drink.
The inmate had previously suffered from a perforated stomach, and the symptoms he suffered while in the jail were the same as when he was previously diagnosed with that condition. He pleaded with members of the medical staff at the jail to treat those symptoms. Instead of receiving help, he was allegedly told that he was not sick and was taken back to his cell.
The medical professionals on staff at the jail outside Texas were aware that the inmate was experiencing excruciating pain. Though he repeatedly begged to be sent to a hospital for an exam, his requests were denied.
Upon the inmate’s release from jail, he was immediately placed in an ambulance by a bail bondsman. Physicians performed surgery on his stomach that day, and the issues were a stomach perforation and abscess.
