Mr. Hicks, age 26, fled during an arrest attempt and was tased. The young man fell when the electronic weapon struck him, and his head hit the floor of the parking area where he was apprehended. Due to the injury sustained, he was transported to a hospital, where he died on September 29, 2022. Frisco is in Collin County, Texas.

A Colorado Man Claims He was Brutally Tased in a Restraint Chair

Restraint chairs are highly controversial methods of restraint that have been approved for use in Texas jails by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS). A cruel activity frequently reported in connection with allegations of abuse is that inmates who are helplessly strapped into restraint chairs are tased, sometimes repeatedly. Such is the claim of a man in Colorado, per an October 2022 news report.

The tasing incident in question occurred in 2020. The 34-year-old accuser says that he was in a county jail in Colorado, where he was placed in a restraint chair for reasons he considered insignificant. He claims that after his arms and legs were bound and he was fully immobilized in the restraint device, he was subjected to ridicule by officials. He categorized the ridicule as verbal taunts and said that he was being challenged to resist.

Then, the man claims that a taser was activated on one of his legs and they watched him as his body writhed and shook. He could not understand why other officers did not intervene.

In response to these allegations, the sheriff of that Colorado county stated that their policies prohibit using an electronic weapon on restrained inmates.
