A 2nd Dallas County TX Inmate Dies in 1 Week-Pt.2
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department filed a custodial death report (CDR) about 25-year-old Ariel Nicole Henley. The report shows that she was booked into the Dallas County Jail at 111 W. Commerce Street on September 23, 2022. She was proclaimed dead on October 5, 2022, after being moved from the Dallas, Texas, jail to a medical facility. She died on her 13th day of incarceration.
Shamond Titas Lewis Dies after 1 Week in the Dallas County Jail
Continuing from Part 1 of this ongoing series, the CDR about Mr. Lewis next indicates that on September 23, 2022—the day after his admission into Dallas County Jail–he was escorted for processing through the vault. In the changeout room, Mr. Lewis refused to change into jail attire. Staff then restrained him by him placing in handcuffs. They then changed him into jail attire. The staff then strapped Mr. Lewis into a six-point soft restraint chair. Staff transported him in the chair to the South Tower Jail 2nd Floor Medical Assessment Program to be accessed by medical staff before being housed in his assigned unit.
As the staff was providing Mr. Lewis with water, he became unresponsive. He was then transported by the staff to the nurse’s station to receive medical attention. Paramedics arrived at the jail and transported Mr. Lewis to Parkland Hospital at 5200 Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas. Dr. Vincent Delgado pronounced Mr. Lewis deceased on September 29, 2022.
