A 30-Yr-Old Commits Suicide on 4/5/22 in Guadalupe County Jail TX
Mason Tyler Simon was booked into Guadalupe County Jail on April 1, 2022. He died at age 30 in the jail’s custody on April 5, 2022. The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office filed a custodial death report (CDR) on Mr. Simon on April 22, 2022. The address of the Guadalupe County Jail where the events leading to Mr. Simon’s death occurred is 2617 N. Guadalupe Street in Seguin, Texas 78155. The CDR indicates that the manner of death was suicide.

Two Recent Suicides Occur in a County Jail Outside Texas
The death of a 47-year-old county jail inmate outside Texas is currently under investigation. The deceased had been booked into the jail on April 15, and he was pronounced dead from apparent suicide four days later on April 19, 2022.
Controversy surrounds the 2020 custodial suicide of a 17-year-old in the same county jail. The jail has been accused of falsifying records to show that the teen had been checked on at the required intervals for an individual who was on suicide alert.
A 37-Year-Old Inmate Outside Texas Hangs Himself
On April 4, 2022, jail deputies discovered that a 37-year-old male county jail inmate outside Texas was hanging by his neck in his cell. Deputies entered the cell and removed the ligature from around the man’s neck. CPR was administered until the arrival of the EMS crew, when lifesaving measures were continued. The man was pronounced dead a short time later that same day. An investigation is underway.
