Forty-one-year-old Charles Korey Thomas was admitted into Dallas County Jail in the Dallas County West Tower Jail Facility on May 31, 2023. He was found unresponsive on August 9, 2023. Parkland Jail Health Medical Staff Members and Dallas Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene. J. Knickerbocker of Dallas Fire Rescue saw signs of death (post-mortem lividity/rigor mortis) and pronounced Mr. Thomas deceased at 7:19 a.m. that morning. The decedent was within a single cell that was located in a multiple occupancy tank. His cause of death is unknown and awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Leslie Joron Thackston Dies on Day 4 in Dallas County Jail

Leslie Joron Thackston was 44 years old when she was placed in Dallas County Jail at 5200 Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas, Texas, Dallas County, 75235, on July 15, 2023. It appears that intake may not have been completed because “unknown” is written in answer to four questions about her condition at that time. Those questions related to:

• Did she appear to be intoxicated, whether by drugs or alcohol.
• Did she make any suicidal statements?
• Did she exhibit any mental health problems?
• Did she exhibit any medical problems?

Few details are provided in the summary about how the death occurred. It starts by saying that she was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital on July 18, 2023. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was in progress. Dr. Sarah Wells of Parkland Memorial Hospital pronounced Ms. Thackston deceased at 7:44 a.m. on that day.
