A 44-Year-Old Inmate Dies by Suicide at Bexar County Jail

Forty-four-year-old Juan Carlos Guerrero died by suicide in the custody of the Bexar County Jail less than one month after being booked there as an inmate on October 4, 2022. The address of the jail is 200 N. Comal Street, San Antonio TX 78207. Mr. Guerrero was pronounced deceased on November 2, 2022, after being taken by ambulance to the Downtown Baptist Emergency Room in San Antonio.

Bexar County Jail Inmate Emmitt Earl Byrd Dies by Suicide on 4/21/22

Emmitt Earl Byrd, age 44, entered Bexar County Jail on April 17, 2022. During intake, the jailer handling Mr. Byrd’s booking process made no indication that he made suicidal statements or that he exhibited mental health problems. Tragically, on April 21, 2022, Mr. Byrd was discovered in his single-occupancy cell hanging by his neck from a bed sheet that was secured on one end around the cell door’s interior hinge. He was pronounced deceased at the jail less than a half hour later.

A 36-Year-Old Bexar County Jail Inmate Commits Suicide on 3/24/22

On his fourth day of incarceration at Bexar County Jail, 36-year-old Ryan A. Legg was discovered with a sheet around his neck in the multiple-occupancy cell where he was housed. The sheet was attached to the light fixture. A jail deputy cut Mr. Espinoza down, and lifesaving measures began immediately. Emergency medical technicians with the San Antonio Fire Department also attempted to revive Mr. Legg before he was pronounced deceased at 11:06 PM on March 24, 2022.
