An Incident Demonstrating High-Risk Situations for Detainees Continued

The following continues a narration of an incident that occurred in a U.S. courtroom. See Part 1 and Part 2 of this continuing series.

  • As the judge handed down a prison sentence to the inmate at the podium, the inmate removed a razor blade from his mouth and used it to cut his wrist. Blood went everywhere. The situation had escalated because not only was an inmate attempting to commit suicide, but there was now an inmate in possession of a weapon in the courtroom. Aware of their roles and responsibilities in dealing with a critical incident, the bailiffs requested emergency backup via radio.

One of the reasons this website was created was to provide Texas inmates in municipal and county jails and their families with helpful resources. There is no intention of making accusations against individuals or entities on this site.
