A Bexar County Jail Inmate Dies of Unknown Causes-Pt.5
The custodial death report (CDR) about Hector Lopez states that after jail personnel began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the San Antonio Fire Department arrived and transported him to Downtown Baptist Hospital. He was pronounced deceased by a physician approximately an hour after his medical emergency was discovered. Mr. Lopez was 40 years old on the day of his death, March 31, 2023.
Daniel Pentowski Dies after a Medical Emergency at Bexar County Jail
Daniel Pentowski died 51 hours after he was booked into Bexar County Jail. On January 23, 2023, when he was booked into the jail, it was documented that he appeared intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. He was placed in a single cell. At 10:18 AM on January 25, 2023, Mr. Pentkowski was discovered unresponsive in cell CA26, his assigned housing location. Jail staff initiated a medical emergency immediately, and lifesaving measures began. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and presumably continued the efforts, but a person with EMS declared Mr. Pentowski deceased at 10:34 AM on January 25, 2023. Mr. Pentowski died in his cell at Bexar County Jail at the age of 53.
Juan Carlos Guerrero Dies in Bexar County Jail
Late last year, Juan Carlos Guerrero died while in the custody of Bexar County Jail. He was 44 years old and had been in the jail since October 4, 2022. Mr. Guerrero was discovered with a sheet tied around his neck at 3:30 AM on the day of his death. The other end was secured to the top bunk in cell BE28, the cell where he was housed. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful. He died in the Downtown Baptist Emergency Room at 7:54 PM on November 2, 2022.
