A Dallas, Texas CVS Security Officer Chases Down and Allegedly Murders a Shoplifting Suspect
On Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2017, video surveillance allegedly recorded 31-year-old Christopher Geddes shoplifting inside a CVS Pharmacy in Dallas, Texas. According to the Dallas Police Department (DPD), Geddes got into the passenger side of a Toyota Camry after allegedly stealing several items, and the vehicle took off. The loss-prevention officer at the South Buckner Boulevard store allegedly got into his Chevrolet Camaro and pursued the shoplifting suspect. A car chase ensued, after which the security officer allegedly shot and killed Geddes.
Police say that witnesses on C. F. Hawn Freeway reported seeing the Camaro the CVS employee was in chasing the Camry the suspect shoplifter was in. At the Elam Road exit, the Camry struck a road sign and spun out, after which one of its tires was flattened. Witnesses said the driver pulled the Camry to the intersection of Elam Road and the service road of the C. F. Hawn Freeway.
Witnesses also told police that the driver of the Camaro stopped his vehicle on Elam Road, facing east. Geddes then allegedly exited the Camry and approached the Camaro. It was at that time that the CVS employee allegedly shot Geddes in the torso and then drove eastward on Elam Road.
Geddes died from the gunshot wound, and the CVS security officer has been arrested and charged with murder. He is currently in the Dallas County Jail, and bail has been set at $200,000.
