A Euless Municipal Jail Inmate Dies in Under 5 Hours-Pt.1

On December 13, 2022, a custodial death report (CDR) was filed by the Euless Police Department about 38-year-old Kenderick Jackson. Mr. Jackson entered the Texas municipal jail at 7:46 AM on November 30, 2022. He was pronounced deceased about 4 ½ hours later at 12:14 PM in the jail at 1102 W. Euless Blvd, Euless TX 76040 in Tarrant County.

Jail Overcrowding is an Ongoing Issue in Nueces County

In recent news, Nueces County Jail in Corpus Christi, Texas, reported that the inmate population had reached 103%. An emergency meeting was held to address the problem. Speaking to one of the likely causes of jail overcrowding, a local judge said that caseloads in San Antonio courts had increased 21% over the past five years.

The Nueces County Sheriff has been sending the overflow of detainees to other jails. At the time of the news report, 30 Nueces County Jail inmates had been moved to Aransas County. Another 17 inmates were housed in Victoria County Jail. This measure costs thousands upon thousands of dollars, according to the Nueces County Commissioner.

In discussions about finding solutions, building a new jail was discussed. That venture would cost hundreds of millions, however, according to the County Commissioner. The current jail is 50 years old and in need of an upgrade, according to a local judge.
