A Female Taylor County Jail Inmate in Abilene TX Dies on Day 10-Pt.5
The summary of the death of Taylor County Jail inmate Tammy Jo Sanders in Abilene, Texas, is continued here. The lifesaving efforts of the EMS and local fire department were unsuccessful. Ms. Sanders was pronounced deceased at 8:32 AM on November 16, 2022, and her body was transported to the S.W.I.F.T. medical examiner’s office in Dallas, Texas. The cause of death is currently unknown and is pending the results of the autopsy.
An 81-Year-Old Dies in Taylor County in a Pre-Custodial Incident
Joe Lester Wilson died at age 81 after a pre-custodial use of force incident in Taylor County on February 2, 2018. Mr. Wilson had barricaded himself in his home after telling his wife to leave and discharging a firearm. For more than two hours, negotiations were attempted.
Mr. Wilson then opened a side door, went inside the door of his home and retrieved a rifle, and pointed the rifle at two deputies. A third deputy feared for the lives of those deputies and for his own life, and he discharged a single round of his firearm. Mr. Wilson died of the gunshot wound at the scene.
A 60-Year-Old Dies in a Pre-Custodial Use of Force Incident in Taylor County.
Emmett Edward Hall encountered deputies at about 10:00 PM on June 10, 2017. Officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant when Mr. Hall allegedly charged them with a knife, attempting to stab one of them. A firearm was used in self-defense by one or more deputies to stop the threat. Mr. Hall was taken to a nearby medical facility and was pronounced deceased at 7:00 AM on June 11, 2017.
