A Hidalgo County Jail Inmate Dies
Miguel Angel Garcia was booked into Hidalgo County Jail in Edinburg, Texas, on June 11, 2022. According to a custodial death report (CDR) prepared by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Garcia died in the jail’s custody at age 47 on September 5, 2022. He was diagnosed with severe cirrhosis of the liver at an Edinburg hospital the day before he was pronounced deceased.
The Edinburg Police Department Files a Custodial Death Report on Jesse Daniel Davila
At 6:51 AM on January 11, 2021, Jesse Daniel Davila died after he was involved with the Edinburg Police Department in a pre-custodial use of force incident, according to the custodial death report (CDR) filed about Mr. Davila. The Edinburg Police Department at 1702 S. Closner in Edinburg, TX 78539, filed the CDR.
The Amended CDR about Mr. Davila’s death indicates that the manner of death was homicide, which includes justifiable homicide. The medical cause of death is listed as “gunshot wounds to the trunk.” The type of weapon that caused the end was a handgun, and the CDR shows that law enforcement caused the death.
The time of the incident or custody was 5:49 AM. Mr. Davila was shot in an apartment in Edinburg. He was then transported to a medical facility, where he was pronounced deceased about an hour after that.
