A Hidalgo County Jail Inmate Dies – Part 3
The September 5, 2022, death of Miguel Angel Garcia occurred for unknown reasons according to the custodial death report (CDR) filed by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office about his passing. Mr. Garcia had been an inmate of Hidalgo County Jail from June 11, 2022, to the day of his death. A note in the CDR under “Medical Cause of Death” indicates that Mr. Garcia was diagnosed with severe cirrhosis of the liver and other medical conditions when he went to the hospital on September 4, 2022, and was admitted into an intensive care unit.
Anthony Lee Villarreal Dies in an Edinburg, Texas, Jail Continued
What next happened to 25-year-old inmate Anthony Lee Villarreal was that EMS personnel placed him in an ambulance at 2:12 AM on the day of his death and transported him from the Hidalgo County Jail in Edinburg, Texas, to the Edinburg Regional Hospital. Hospital personnel called the jail at 3:20 AM and informed them that Mr. Villarreal was in cardiac arrest when he arrived at the emergency room. He was moved to the intensive care unit and was placed on life support.
At 7:40 AM on October 10, 2020, Mr. Villareal passed away. The CDR about his death indicates that he died of natural causes. The medical cause is specified as the combined effects of probable benzodiazepine and ethanol withdrawal and cardiomyopathy with coronary atherosclerosis.
