A Municipal Jail Inmate in Gladewater TX Commits Suicide-Pt.2
When 29-year-old Sean Caleb Denison went through intake at the city jail in Gladewater, Texas, at about 2 PM on January 20, 2023, it was noted that he appeared to be intoxicated. Public intoxication was the only charge he was arrested for, according to the custodial death report (CDR) about him that was filed by the Gladewater Police Department. In the holding cell where he had been placed, Mr. Denison used his jail uniform to hang himself by his neck from the ceiling. He was declared deceased less than 5 hours after being booked into the facility.
Ashley Elizabeth Maxwell Commits Suicide in Gregg County Jail, Longview, Texas
Forty-three-year-old Ashley Elizabeth Maxwell went through intake at Gregg County Jail, in Longview, Texas, on May 24, 2022. It was noted at the time of booking that she appeared to have mental health problems, and she was placed in a multiple-occupancy cell with three other inmates.
According to the CDR about Mr. Maxwell, she was placed on suicide watch because of a documented history of drug abuse and mental illness. Despite any precautions that may have been taken to prevent suicide, at about 10:40 PM on May 26, 2022, Ms. Maxwell was discovered hanging by the neck from the television cable wire in the cell.
Lifesaving measures were immediately instigated. Ultimately, Ms. Maxwell was transported to the medical facility where she was pronounced deceased at 11:08 PM, which was Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center. An autopsy was performed, and the postmortem toxicology analysis showed that Ms. Maxwell was positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. The cause of death was suicide by hanging.
