A Randall County Jail TX Inmate Dies of Peritonitis-Pt.3

This is a brief continuation of the summary of events leading to the death of  Tobe Lee Fluty, Jr., who was incarcerated in Randall County Jail in Amarillo, Texas, and died six days after his January 19, 2023, entry. Following his clearance from the hospital, Mr. Fluty was returned to the jail. The next day, January 23, at 10:59 AM, the jail officer on duty put in a request for Mr. Fluty to be moved from his cell to medical. This request was granted, and the inmate was cleared by medical minutes later at 11:15 AM due to having normal vital signs.

An Inmate Dies of Peritonitis

In a jail outside Texas, a 43-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her cell at about 4:00 AM as staff members were making rounds to dispense medications. Lifesaving measures were immediately initiated and emergency medical services were called to the scene. Paramedics were unable to revive her.

An autopsy was conducted, and it was determined that the woman had suffered a ruptured ulcer and died of peritonitis.

On His Fourth Day in Jail, an Inmate Dies of Sepsis Due to Peritonitis

In a county jail in Texas, a 55-year-old man was found unresponsive in an area separate from other detainees. His death came as preparations were being made for his release. An autopsy was performed, and the medical examiner concluded that he likely suffered a ruptured appendix and died of sepsis resulting from peritonitis.
