A San Patricio County TX Inmate is Pronounced Deceased on 10/10/22
Robert Charles Cope II was arrested for public intoxication in Mathis, Texas, on October 9, 2022. Police officers brought Mr. Cope to San Patricio County Jail in Sinton, Texas, where he was booked at 5:46 AM. He was placed in a detox cell. About 20 hours later, he was found in a corner mumbling. Jail medical personnel were summoned, and they said Mr. Cope needed to be taken to an emergency room. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was pronounced deceased at midnight on October 10, 2022.
An Inmate Dies After Percocet Pills Containing Fentanyl are Smuggled into Tarrant County Jail
A recent Dallas, Texas, news story tells of a 25-year-old woman who allegedly snuck Percocet pills into the commissary at Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas. The pills contained fentanyl. The woman was arrested after allegedly smuggling in the pills, which caused two inmates to be hospitalized. Tragically, one of those inmates died. A journalist’s investigation into the case uncovered that the Percocet pills were placed in envelopes that the woman would allegedly sneak into the commissary. According to the Tarrant County sheriff, those pills contained fentanyl.
The investigation by police into the woman’s activities includes details about a custodial death on July 20, 2022, which occurred when a 23-year-old who had been incarcerated for about six months died from an apparent fentanyl overdose.
