An Inmate in Austin TX Dies After being Found Hallucinating-Pt.2
On January 10, 2023, Israel Resendiz Molina went through intake at Travis County Jail. His death at age 47 came a few days later on January 14. On January 18, 2023, the Travis County Sheriff’s Department at 5555 Airport Blvd. in Austin TX 78751 filed a custodial death report about Mr. Molina’s tragic death.
Kyle George Wagner Dies Within 29 Hours in Travis County Jail
After identifying himself as a user of heroin and methamphetamine during his 6:22 AM intake on August 8, 2022, in Travis County Jail, Kyle George Wagner was placed on withdrawal protocols. The original summary of events regarding how Mr. Wagner’s death occurred states that he was placed on a medical post for medical observations once booking on the morning of August 8 was complete.
Approximately 28 hours later, he was discovered unresponsive in his single-occupancy cell. Attempts to revive Mr. Wagner began immediately and continued until personnel with emergency medical services (EMS) arrived and continued the efforts. It was determined that their efforts were unsuccessful, and Mr. Wagner was pronounced deceased at 11:18 AM on August 9, 2022.
According to the information in the amended custodial death report (CDR) that was filed by the Travis County Sheriff’s Department on January 1, 2023, Mr. Wagner’s cause of death was the “toxic effects of heroin.” The jail received the Medical Examiner’s report (ME 22-04795) on December 27, 2022. The manner of death was deemed an accident. The ME report was signed by Dr. Leticia Schuman, Deputy Medical Examiner.
