Carlos Enrique Solorzano-Garduño, 47, was booked into the Bell County Jail at 10:45 a.m. on October 28, 2025. Sadly, Mr. Solorzano-Garduño attempted suicide just 8 days after his arrival, though the custodial death report (CDR) about him shows that he made suicidal statements at some point. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office filed the CDR on November 19, 2025. On his 12th day in the custody of Bell County Jail, Mr. Solorzano-Garduño died from injuries sustained in the November 5 hanging.

The CDR’s summary of how Mr. Solorzano-Garduño’s death occurred conveys the following:

An in-custody medical emergency at the Bell County Sheriff’s Office Loop Jail Facility on November 5, 2025, led to the hospitalization and subsequent death of inmate Carlos Enrique Solorzano-Garduño. According to official reports, Mr. Solorzano-Garduño was housed in cell C1A3 and was last seen walking through the C1A dayroom shortly before returning to his cell around 1:37 p.m.

At approximately 2:29 p.m., another inmate entered the cell and discovered Mr. Solorzano-Garduño unresponsive. Several inmates attempted to alert nearby staff, prompting detention officers to respond. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated within minutes by responding personnel, and an emergency call was broadcast facility-wide. Medical staff arrived shortly afterward and continued lifesaving efforts alongside detention officers.

Emergency Medical Services reached the cell at 2:44 p.m., followed by the Belton Fire Department. A pulse was detected around 2:50 p.m., and preparations were made to transport the inmate for further treatment. Mr. Solorzano-Garduño was removed from the housing unit at 3:07 p.m. and taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Later that evening, he was released from custody on a personal recognizance medical bond. Despite medical treatment in the hospital’s intensive care unit, Mr. Solorzano-Garduño died four days later. Carlos Solorzano-Garduñoon was pronounced deceased on November 9, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

The incident remains under investigation, and additional findings may be released once medical and investigative reviews are completed.

  • Suicidal inmates are typically given stricter supervision than the general jail population, which must be observed every 60 minutes. At-risk inmates, such as the mentally ill and those who have made suicidal statements, are observed with face-to-face supervision every 15 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on the perceived level of risk. And this might not be enough if a detainee has access to a ready ligature, such as a phone cord, bedding, or clothing. Supervision is the single most effective deterrent to inmate suicide.

Bell County Jail is at 116 W. Central Texas Expressway, Georgetown, Texas 76541. The jail’s current bed capacity is 650. An expansion project that is nearing completion will more than double the number of inmates the Georgetown jail can hold.

The address of Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple is 2401 South 31st Street, Temple, Texas, 76508.
