Falls County Jail in Texas Fails Another State Inspection

Courthouse 4

The Falls County jail, in Marlin, Texas, continues to be listed as non-compliant by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards conducted another inspection on July 12, 2019. The inspector noted that an inmate was able to bring in a cell phone into the county jail, where he then took pictures of himself and posted them directly to his Facebook page. The inspector noted that the ability to obtain such a cell phone was an apparent violation of the jail’s obligation to conduct a thorough pat or frisk search of each inmate upon entry into the facility and prior to booking. The inspector also noted that Texas jail standards require regular and irregular searches of the entire facility for contraband.
