2 Potentially Preventable Deaths Occur Within 22 Hours in the Collin County Jail
Two custodial death reports (CDRs) were filed by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office on June 3, 2025. The deaths occurred within 22 hours of each other on May 28 and May 29, 2025. Both deaths might have been preventable.
The death on May 29 involved a 42-year-old man who died from multiple tooth extractions. This kind of death could be caused by uncontrolled bleeding or a severe infection—the type that can quickly lead to a deadly case of sepsis. Both potential causes of death should have been easy to avoid—for instance, sepsis can be prevented by the administration of simple antibiotics.
Details about the other possibly preventable custodial death follow.
