Inmate in Dallas County Jail Dies from Undetermined Cause

Courthouse 1

Jeremy Javon Rideaex, 38 years of age, passed away on or about October 10, 2017 while in the custody of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.  He was in the Dallas County Detention Facility.  Information contained in this post was obtained from a custodial death report filed with the Attorney General of Texas by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

Allegedly, Mr. Rideaex contacted a control center within the jail and complained about having chest pain.  He was allegedly escorted to a nurse’s station.  He then allegedly collapsed, and CPR was provided.  He was ultimately transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The death report indicates that the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is conducting its own death investigation.  The report also indicates that Mr. Rideaex had exhibited mental health problems, made suicidal statements, and exhibited medical problems.  We allege nothing about whether anyone acted inappropriately in this post, but instead are simply providing information.
