Jail Neglect Lawyer – An Investigative Report on a Jail Outside Texas Results in Possible Corrective Actions – Part 4
Recent deaths at the county jail outside Texas are part of an alarming pattern of events at that facility. A great deal of public outrage has followed multiple deaths in recent years. At least 50 inmates have died there since 2004. Another inmate has died at that jail this month, though neither details of the custodial death have been released nor the name of the inmate who died.
One year ago, a report was released about the deaths that occurred in the previous 12 months, and they totaled seven deaths. The most recent death at that time was a 45-year-old man who was booked into the jail with serious pre-existing health conditions. Few details had been released at that time but authorities said that he experienced a medical emergency while at the jail. He received first aid from medical staff at the jail and was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he died the next day. He was placed in the jail three days before his death.
The cause of death most commonly cited in the one-year period was a “medical emergency.” More details about the deaths follow in this continuing series.
