Jail Overdose Death Lawyer Texas – Past and Current Mentally Disabled and Suicidal Inmates at a County Jail Bring to Light Alleged Disturbing Behaviors of the Jail Staff and Administration – Part 5

Inmate Story #1

At the county jail that this series is about, a current inmate who has made allegations against the jail reports that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and an adjustment disorder. This individual says that he has spent more than half of his time in solitary confinement, and he has been an inmate at the jail since mid-2017.

The inmate has been denied therapy, counseling, and any other type of mental health care, allegedly being informed by jail staff that he has to be suicidal in order to receive treatment. One of the jail’s officers allegedly encouraged the inmate to commit suicide. Feeling that being suicidal was the only recourse he had to get needed help, he attempted to hang himself. As a result, he was disciplined for being manipulative.

Inmate Story #2

An inmate who has been at the county jail since 2019 suffers from PTSD, depression, and anxiety. He claims that after a fight in his pod that he did not involve himself in, he was returning to his cell when a taser was aimed at him and a member of the staff commanded that he get on the ground. Before he could get to the ground, he was tased. He also alleges that he was cuffed while lying down and that two other staff members continued punching and tasing him and spraying him in the face with pepper spray.

The inmate alleges that the next thing the jail staff did was place him in a restraint chair before he had an opportunity to wash the pepper spray off of his face, and he was allegedly left in the restraint chair for eight hours. These are just some of the examples of the treatment this inmate alleges against the county jail.

See Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and this ongoing series to learn more about allegations made against this county jail by current and former inmates.
