Man Dies in Custody of Dallas Police Department
On or about October 11, 2017, George Dennis died after being restrained by the Dallas Police Department. Information in this post was obtained from a custodial death report filed by the Dallas Police Department with the Texas State Attorney General’s Office. We make no allegation in this post that anyone did anything improper, but are simply providing information.
Allegedly, at approximately 2:09 p.m. on October 11, 2017, a Dallas 911 operator received a call regarding Mr. Dennis laying on the side of a road. Dallas Fire Rescue responded and communicated with Mr. Dennis. Mr. Dennis agreed to go to the hospital. Allegedly, on the way to the hospital, Mr. Dennis became combative. Dallas Fire Rescue personnel then contacted the Dallas Police Department, who responded. Two Dallas Police officers entered the ambulance and handcuffed Mr. Dennis. Mr. Dennis was transported to Methodist Hospital, where he passed away. Mr. Dennis was 46 years old, and autopsy results are pending.
