Man Dies in Custody of Mesquite Police Department

Courthouse 2

The Mesquite Police Department filed a custodial death report with the Attorney General of Texas regarding the death of Scott Ronald Paschall.  Information in this post was obtained from that report, and we make no allegation of any wrongdoing against anyone.  We are instead simply providing information.

Mr. Paschall was arrested as a result of a traffic stop for alleged outstanding warrants.  He was fully cooperative with police officers and placed into the back seat of a police vehicle.

Mr. Paschall was booked into the Mesquite jail.  During the medical screening process, he disclosed that he had a heart condition for which he took medication, and he was also diabetic.  Mr. Paschall was placed into a holding cell to await the arresting officer’s completion of the arrest report.  Detention staff returned to the holding cell at approximately 8:52 p.m. and found that Mr. Paschall was unresponsive.  Mesquite paramedics arrived at the scene at approximately 8:59 p.m., and Mr. Paschall was transported to Dallas Regional Hospital.  Mr. Paschall passed away at the hospital.
