Man Dies While Allegedly Undergoing Detox in Jail in McLennan County, Texas
The McLennan County Sheriff’s Department filed a custodial death report with the Attorney General of Texas regarding the death of Jimmy Lloyd Cummings, Jr. Mr. Cummings was 56 years of age at the time of his death. Information in this post was obtained from that report, and we make no allegations of any wrongdoing.
Mr. Cummings was initially incarcerated in the McLennan County Jail on January 6, 2018. He told jail medical personell that he would like to detox from heroin use. The jail chose to house him in a single-person cell in the medical unit for observation. Mr. Cummings became non-responsive approximately three days later, and he passed away after being transported to Scott & White Baylor Medical Center.
