Two County Jail Inmates Recently Died in California Continued
Nine days before the death of the aforementioned 33-year-old county jail detainee in California, a 38-year-old county jail inmate in California died. The man had been booked into the jail about 48 hours before his death. During morning medical checks, a jail nurse and a deputy discovered him unresponsive in his cell. CPR was administered and a request was made for paramedics. Life-saving measures continued, but paramedics pronounced the inmate dead. The cause and manner of death are unknown and pending the results of a coroner’s autopsy report. The death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division.
In King County, Washington, the 6th Custodial Death in 2022 Occurs
A 59-year-old inmate at a jail facility in King County, Washington, suffered a medical emergency on July 28, 2022. He was provided first aid until paramedics arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital. Five days later, the inmate died in the hospital. The cause and manner of his death are unknown. An internal investigation is being conducted, which is the standard protocol after a custodial death. The local Police Department will also undertake an independent investigation. This was at least the 6th custodial death in the county in 2022.
