On 6/4/22 Another El Paso County Jail Texas Inmate Dies-Pt.3

Twenty-seven-year-old Adam Talavera entered the El Paso County Detention Center on August 17, 2020. On June 4, 2022, officers checked on Mr. Talavera in his single cell because he did not go to eat his food. They discovered that he was unresponsive, and he was declared dead in the jail that morning. Two entries in the custodial death report (CDR) suggest that he may have committed suicide. One was that he caused his own death. Another was that a pre-existing medical condition was not applicable because the cause of death was either accidental injury, intoxication, suicide, or homicide.

Hanging/Strangulation was the Means of Death of an El Paso County Jail Inmate on 5/29/2022

Andres Linares Baca died while an inmate of El Paso County Jail on Montana Avenue in El Paso, Texas, on May 29, 2022. He was 39 years old, and the custodial death report (CDR) about his death indicates that the means of death was hanging/strangulation. Mr. Baca had entered the jail on May 10, 2022. Because his death was just 19 days after his arrival at the El Paso jail, if he did commit suicide, his death is in keeping with custodial suicide statistics. About 66% of local jail suicides occur within the first 30 days of incarceration. In addition, suicide by hanging is the most common way inmates end their lives in city and county jails.
