Sepsis is the Presumed Cause of Death of a 29-Year-Old Texas County Jail Inmate-5
A 66-Year-Old Inmate Dies of Sepsis Continued
Per the custodial death report (CDR), the deceased developed the condition that caused his death after admission to the jail. The report also states that he had not been receiving treatment for the medical condition that caused his death after admission to the jail’s jurisdiction. Following the autopsy, the 66-year-old man’s cause of death was listed as “complications of sepsis with necrotizing pneumonia.”
It seems that this was potentially a case of medical neglect since the inmate had been in the jail for a year and he developed the condition in the jail. Had he received appropriate care for pneumonia, he may not have died.
