Experienced Legal Guidance After a Possible In-Custody Death
Being incarcerated does not deprive a person of their constitutional rights. Detention facilities are legally required to provide appropriate medical care, conduct proper monitoring, and keep all detainees in safe conditions. If those obligations are not met—whether through delayed treatment, denial of treatment for chronic conditions, failure to respond to medical distress, inadequate mental health care, or lack of supervision—the results can be tragic.
If your family member passed away while incarcerated and you have concerns about potential neglect, medical mismanagement, unsafe conditions, or staff misconduct, the Law Offices of Dean Malone, P.C. may be able to assist. Our practice is dedicated to representing families in custodial death cases. We handle matters involving the denial or delay of medical care, preventable suicides, improper use of force, and patterns of systemic failure within jail systems.
In these cases, time is of the essence, and a careful and independent legal review is often critical. Our team examines medical records, incident reports, surveillance footage, jail policies, and witness accounts to determine whether constitutional standards were violated. We work with qualified experts when necessary to evaluate whether proper care was provided and whether different actions could have changed the outcome. The goal is to uncover the facts and seek accountability under the law.
We understand that families facing an unexpected jail death are often left with unanswered questions and overwhelming grief. You do not have to navigate this process alone.
