Texas Jail Abuse Lawyer – Deaths in U.S. Jails Rise as Medical Care is Outsourced to Companies in Which Inmate Care is Allegedly Neglected to Ensure Greater Profits – Part 9

In continuing the story about the 21-year-old with a history of bipolar disorder and his arrest on January 1, 2015, the man was booked four hours after being placed in a cell.

When he refused to return to his jail cell, the 21-year-old was wrestled to the ground by three deputies. Another jailer, a sergeant, tried to shock him using a  taser. The inmate grabbed the stun gun and attempted to shock the deputies with it. In the process, the sergeant was knocked to the ground. The deputies allegedly then kicked and punched the inmate and then placed his hands behind his back and cuffed him. They also shackled his legs, carried him to a cell, placed him in a restraint chair, and put a spit mask over his head.

The inmate began to kick, squirm, and scream. One of the deputies pressed a stun gun against the young man’s thigh and activated it. The inmate screamed, and the same deputy gave him two more shocks of the taser. Later, that deputy said that the inmate’s skin was “hot to the touch” at that point.
