Texas Jail Suicide Lawyer – Past and Current Mentally Disabled and Suicidal Inmates at a County Jail Bring to Light Alleged Disturbing Behaviors of the Jail Staff and Administration – Part 6

Inmate Story #3

Another inmate from the county jail that this series is about says that he is blind in one eye due to an event that occurred prior to being booked into jail, he suffers from depression, PTSD, and severe anxiety. He says the staff has kept him in administrative custody almost the entire one-year period that he has been at the jail. He says the jail staff express concern this his vision impairment might create problems for him if he was released into the jail’s general population.

The inmate alleges that his requests for mental health services are continually ignored. He finally informed the medical staff that he was having suicidal thoughts. The mental health unit was alerted but when they spoke to the inmate and he explained that he only said he was suicidal to be able to speak with someone, the staff member simply left without speaking to him any further.

According to the same inmate, on one occasion, he took action to try to prevent the destruction of his belongings during a shakedown. As a result, he says he was tased by an officer, his head was slammed to the ground, and he was then put into a restraint chair for hours.

See Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, and this continuing series to learn more about accusations made against this county jail.
