Texas Rangers Investigate Death of Man in Jasper County, Texas Jail

The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of Charles Thomas Merkelz occurring the Jasper County, Texas jail. Mr. Merkelz was allegedly found unresponsive in the cell in Jasper. As additional information is learned about Mr. Merkelz’s death, we will post it here. We make no allegation of any wrongdoing in this post, but are simply providing information.
