The Killeen Police Department and Killeen City Jail are both located at 3304 Community Blvd. Killeen, TX 76543. The Chief of Police is Charles F. Kimble. The police department’s phone number is 254-501-7600. The non-emergency phone line for the police department in Killeen is 254-501-8830. The department has a Victim Services unit, an active Facebook page dedicated to interacting with the public, and a brand new page providing access to Department Transparency links.

The Killeen Police Department released details about the new transparency page on the city’s website in August 2020. The public can access the transparency links on that page at any time. The links are part of the police department’s effort to increase transparency with the community. According to Assistant Police Chief Jeff Donohue, the goal of the transparency links is to keep the public informed about who in the city represents their local law enforcement. The types of calls the Killeen police are responding to are also included.

Asst. Chief Donohue said the department has been brainstorming how they can “do better” and how they could better reform. He says the transparency links show that the department is an open book and they have nothing to hide.

The transparency page for the police department shows the following information:

  • Crime statistics
  • Agency demographics
  • An internal affair summary, which is updated monthly

The internal affairs link is not going to provide specifics about the officers under investigation, Asst. Chief Donohue said. The number of investigations, whether they are active or closed, and outcomes of investigations will be included, however.

The purpose of this post is to make general public information easy to access. There is no intent to imply and we do not assert wrongdoing or misconduct on the part of any individual, county, jail, or governmental agency.
