A special jail inspection of Williamson County Jail occurred on October 8, 2025, during which an inspector with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) found the jail noncompliant. Subsequently, Williamson County Jail has been cited for the alleged violation of one minimum jail standard. TCJS added the Georgetown, Texas, jail to the noncompliance page on its website and sent a notice of non-compliance to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on October 10, 2025.

Williamson County Jail is cited for allegedly violating Rule §273.2(7)-Health Services Plan, which provides the procedures for the distribution of prescriptions in accordance with the physicians’ written instructions. The following was conveyed by the TCJS inspector’s notes:

  • Documentation sent for a custodial death was reviewed, and it was determined that there was no documentation on the Medical Administration Record (MAR) on eight (8) occasions indicating whether the inmates received or refused their medication.

There were two custodial deaths in Williamson County Jail in the two months preceding this special jail inspection. On September 11, 2025, a 53-year-old inmate collapsed and died for reasons unknown. On August 21, 2025, a 20-year-old inmate died by suicide.

There are no questions about the jail distributing medications to inmates on the state’s custodial death report (CDR). So, there is no way to determine through public documents whether either of the two deceased inmates mentioned above, who died in the custody of Williamson County Jail, had missed doses of any prescriptions that a physician may have written for them.

The address of the Williamson County Jail is W 4th Street 207, Georgetown, Texas 78626. The inmate capacity is 1,128.
