Visitor Approval Process

Minor Visitors
Visitors age 17 and under are generally allowed to visit offenders, though they must be accompanied by a guardian. There is an exemption allowing children ages 16 and 17 to visit an offender without adult companionship if the offender is the child’s legal parent or guardian. The warden must issue a written approval for such visits, and the approval must be filed in the offender’s file.

It is recommended that visitors bring along additional documents such as a birth certificate, credit card with photo, or another ID issued by the government, in case further verification is needed. If a minor will be visiting an inmate alone, photo identification of the child must be available upon entry, such as a student ID plus a birth certificate, as well as the approval documents.
