Jail operation is among the duties of the Edwards County Sheriff. The Lone Star State’s minimum jail standards are determined by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS), and the organization also enforces those standards. Regular jail inspections and increased oversight of jails found to be in non-compliance are the primary means of enforcement.

Visitation at the Edwards County Jail

Hours of operation for female inmates at the Edwards County Jail are Wednesdays and Saturdays only from 2:40 pm to 4 pm.

Hours of operation for male inmates are Thursdays and Sundays only from 2:40 pm to 4 pm.

Up to four people are allowed per visit, and each inmate is allowed to have two 20-minute visits per week.

Inmate Trust Fund

Money can be added to an inmate’s trust fund for use in the commissary in the following ways:

• Money orders only when the money is sent by mail; and
• When paid in person, cash and money orders are accepted and a receipt is issued.

Inmates’ Personal Belongings

From Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, inmates’ personal belongings may be picked up. The person picking up the items is required to sign a property receipt. The clothing that the inmate was wearing when booked into jail will be retained.
