The Bastrop County Sheriff has the responsibility to run the county jail. the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) establishes minimum jail standards for all jails in the state, and they are generally enforced via jail inspections.

DOs:
- Do include your first name, last name, and complete mailing address
- Do include the inmate’s name under which they are booked at the jail
- Do include the inmate number
- Do limit the number of photographs to 5 per envelope
- Do feel free to handwrite or type letters
DO NOT SEND:
- Glitter, liquid paper, cologne, perfume, foreign substances, lipstick, etc.
- Pages torn from pamphlets, magazines, or books
- Do not send pictures or photographs that are gang-related, sexually explicit, or show drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol
- Photo-copied materials or anything printed from a computer, other than correspondence
- Do not send books because books of any kind must come directly from a publisher
- Paper, pens, stamps, envelopes, etc.
