Nueces County Inmate Dies While in Custody

On or about September 20, 2017, detainee Cristobal Flores passed away while in the custody of the Nueces County, Texas Sheriff’s Department.  Information in this post was obtained from a custodial death report filed by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department with the Attorney General of Texas.

At approximately 5:39 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, an officer discovered Mr. Flores, who was in an inmate at the time, unresponsive on the bunk in his cell.  Lifesaving measures were then instituted, but Mr. Flores showed no response to those lifesaving measures and/or any lifesaving measures conducted by EMS personnel.  The autopsy is pending.  However, the Nueces County Sheriff’s Department reported that Mr. Flores had exhibited mental health problems and medical problems either during the incident and/or at entry into the law enforcement facility.
