3 Texas Walmart Employees were Seriously Injured in August 2021-Pt3

The third August 2021 serious work injury at a Texas Walmart occurred in Sealy, TX. This series has focused on those injuries as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Walmart, Lowe’s, Amazon, and Home Depot are all major employers that likely do not subscribe to workers’ comp in Texas. No matter the status as regards workers’ comp, all employers are required to ensure that employees have a safe work environment. Warehouses are places of employment where forklifts pose a danger.

A Walmart Employee in Sealy, Texas, Suffers a Crushing Injury

  • While filling an order on August 24, 2021, a Walmart Distribution Center employee in Sealy, Texas, was standing between an empty stack of pallets and a motorized pallet jack. A forklift struck the stack of pallets. This pinched the employee against the pallet jack, causing his hip to be broken. The employee was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.

  • On August 24, 2021, an employee with HEB Grocery Company, LP located at 4710 N Pan Am Expressway in San Antonio, TX 78204 was hospitalized as a result of a serious Texas work accident. The employee was on a loading dock operating a powered pallet jack. The pallet jack collided with a forklift, which resulted in the employee suffering a broken femur.
