Austin, Texas Employer Cited by OSHA for Alleged Safety Violations Relating to Possible Excavation Cave-Ins

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) cited Austin, Texas Kinney’s Commercial Inc. for violations for putting employees at risk for possible excavation cave-ins. The proposed penalties exceed $40,000.00.  The company’s worksite is on West Slaughter Lane.

An OSHA inspector allegedly saw a worker descend a ladder into an excavation without shoring.  The purpose of shoring is to prevent a possible cave-in. Morever, there were purportedly at the jobsite near vertical excavation walls to depths exceeding eight feet.  Here is a link to a related article –
