Walmart Employees at 3 Texas Locations are Injured in July 2021-Pt2

The most common types of injuries that occur in warehouses for big-box stores such as Walmart, Lowe’s, Amazon, and Home Depot are slips, trips, and falls. It’s unlikely that any of these major employers are subscribers to the Texas workers’ compensation program. But all employers have a duty to provide a safe workplace.

In a warehouse environment, the hazards that can result in serious injury caused by slips, trips, and falls include discarded boxes, substances that have been spilled, box ties, cables, and shelving. Lifting is also a potential hazard.

The following is information about the second of the three July 2021 Texas Walmart serious injuries that the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently released details about.

A Silsbee, Texas, Walmart Employee is Seriously Injured on the Job

The Walmart in Silsbee, Texas, has a NAICS Code of 445110, which is the same as the Mission, Texas, store mentioned in Part 1 of this series. It is the Supermarkets and Other Grocery Retailers (except Convenience Retailers) industry. The location where the Silsbee work accident occurred was 1100 U.S. Highway 96 North, zip 77656.

  • On July 19, 2021, at the Silsbee Walmart location, an employee allegedly suffered a serious Texas work injury. He tripped over a portable wall partition and fell onto the floor, striking his head. The worker suffered both a head injury and a broken arm. Treatment of his injuries required hospitalization and surgery.
