Williamson County Jail Suicide

Williamson County has approved a $1.25 million settlement following the 2021 suicide of Joshua McNatt, who died while on suicide watch in the county jail. According to the federal lawsuit filed by McNatt’s mother, jail staff ignored multiple warnings about his suicidal state and mental health history, and left him in a cell with materials and tie-off points that violated established jail standards. Despite clear documentation of his risk and prior treatment needs, McNatt was not given his prescribed medications while in custody.

The Law Offices of Dean Malone, P.C. represents families in Texas whose loved ones have died in jail due to inadequate supervision, lack of medical care, or failure to follow suicide prevention procedures, working to hold facilities accountable for preventable tragedies.
