In March 2023, An Inmate Dies After 5 Days at Tarrant County Jail Continued
The following is information in the summary of how this inmate’s death occurred:
After being booked into Tarrant County Jail on March 18, 2023, he was housed with the general population.
On March 23, 2023, the inmate died at approximately 10:34 PM at the John Peter Smith Hospital. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital at about 9:09 PM on March 23, 2023, after experiencing a medical emergency in his pod (cell 57B at 100 N Lamar, Fort Worth, Texas).
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and took possession of Inmate Jackson. A Tarrant County Sheriff’s Detective was assigned to the death investigation (as shown in TCSO report 2023-04051). The Major Case Unit with the Fort Worth Police Department will perform an independent review of the case. Further reports and documentation will follow the investigation as they become available.
Heidiann Gitts Dies in the Custody of Tarrant County Jail
Three days prior to the custodial death referred to above, Heidiann Renee Gitts experienced a medical emergency and died on March 20, 2023. She had been there only since March 18, 2023. When she went through intake at Tarrant County Jail, it was noted that she exhibited medical problems. More details will follow in the next segment of this series.
