A Harris County Jail Inmate Commits Suicide Within 3 Hours-Pt5

Simon Peter Douglas was arrested and booked into Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas, on February 10, 2022. He exhibited mental health problems, as indicated in the custodial death report. Within three hours, he tried two methods of committing suicide and, tragically, he succeeded. Mr. Douglas was 41 years old when he died on the day of the arrest. 

Harris County Jail Inmate Jaquaree Simmons Dies on 2/17/21

Jaquaree Simmons was arrested and placed in Harris County Jail on February 10, 2021. He was discovered nonresponsive a week later. According to the custodial death report (CDR), the medical cause of death was blunt force injuries of the head with a subdural hematoma. The manner of death is listed as homicide, including justifiable homicide. As for who caused the death, the CDR shows that it was law enforcement/correctional personnel. Mr. Simmons was 23 years old when he died on February 17, 2021.

Justin Michael Henderson Dies at age 35 on 2/4/21 in Harris County Jail

On December 9, 2020, Justin Michael Henderson was arrested and placed in a multiple-occupancy cell in the Harris County Jail. On February 4, 2021, fellow inmates alerted detention officers that Mr. Henderson made noises during the night and was unresponsive. More detention officers were alerted along with medical personnel. The decedent was given CPR while being transported to the jail’s clinic. When paramedics with the Houston Fire Department arrived, they assumed care and transported the decedent to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:39 am on February 4, 2021. The CDR shows that his death was accidental, and the cause was the toxic effects of heroin.
